Qatari Serena Sheikh announces arrival with silver at WTT Youth Contender Amman

AMMAN: Rising Qatari table tennis talent Serena Sheikh made a sensational global debut by finishing runner-up in the Under-13 Women’s Singles category at the WTT Youth Contender Amman tournament held in Jordan.

Competing internationally for the first time, Serena displayed remarkable attacking prowess and composure, breezing through the preliminary rounds before notching impressive victories in the knock-out stages. Her semifinal clash against Syria’s Rachel Abboud was a nail-biter, with Serena triumphing 3-2 in a thrilling five-game encounter that highlighted her grit and tactical maturity.

In the final, Serena faced Iraq’s Athmar Nasser in another intense five-game duel. Despite a valiant effort, she narrowly lost 3-2, claiming a well-deserved silver medal and making a powerful statement on the international stage.
