Al Arabi beat Al Rayyan to raise hopes of semifinal berth

DOHA: Al Arabi raised hopes of a semifinal berth after they defeated Al Rayyan 3-2 in the sixth round of 2019-20 Amir Cup on Wednesday.

Al Arabi, third on the table with five points, need to beat Al Wakrah in the last round on Thursday to qualify for the last four stage.

Rayyan are second on six points behind leaders Al Sadd (8 points), who have already qualified for the semifinals from Group B.

A victory for Wakrah meant that they will be on six points same as Rayyan, but the latter will qualify since they had beated Al Wakrah 3-2 in the fourth round.

In other matches, Qatar SC beat Al Gharafa 3-0 while Al Khor overcame Al Ahli 3-1.
