Qatar 1 enter World Team Cup last 16
Doha: Qatar 1 team entered the knock out round of the IBSF-ACBS World Team Cup 2018 after a battling performance at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF) Hall on Wednesday.
Qatar team, comprising Ahmed Saif and Bashar Abdulmajeed defeated South Africa’s Peter Francisco and Mohamed Faaris Kahn 3-0, before losing out 2-3 to Malaysia’s Keen Hoo Moh and Kok Leong Lim.
But Qatar still managed to top the group by virtue of their better frame difference as South Africa had beaten Malaysia 3-1 on the first day of the tournament.
The Qataris will take on reigning world champions Pakistan’s Mohamed Asif and Babar Masih in the last 16.
Ireland-1 (Brendan O’Donoghue and Michael Judge) are the top seeds in the last 16 and Pakistan 2 team, comprising Asjad Iqbal and Mohamed are ranked second.
India 2 featuring Pankaj Advani and Manan Chandra will face Chinese teenagers Zhang Jianjang and Fan Zhengyi, while India-1, comprising Shahbaaz Adil Khan and Malkeet Singh take on Australians Steve Mifsud and Ryan Thomerson.
Russia’s Ivan Kakovskii and Mikhail Terekhov will take on Iceland’s Gunnar Hreidarsson and Gudni Palsson, while Iran’s Amir Sarkhosh and Ehsan Heydari Nezhad are up against Egyptian duo of Hesham Shawky and Wael Talaat.
