Advani steers India into semifinals
Doha: Pankaj Advani put up an impressive show alongside his partner Manan Chandra as India defeated Ireland, comprising Brendan O’Donoghue and Michael Judge to enter the semifinals of the IBSF-ACBS World Team Cup at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF) Hall on Thursday.
Chandra beat O’Donoghue in the first frame to give India the lead while Advani made it 2-0 with a victory against Judge.
Though Ireland came back to win the doubles, Advani made sure of India’s progress with a convincing show against Judge.
India’s semifinal opponents are Iran, who extended their unbeaten run with a 3-2 victory against Russia.
Pakistan will take on Hong Kong in the other semifinal. While Pakistan booked their last-four berth with a 3-1 victory against Wales, Hong Kong defeated Australia 3-2.
Earlier, Qatar had lost to Pakistan in the round of 16.
