Qatar secure silver in double trap at Asian Shooting Championship

SHYMKENT, Kazakhstan: The Qatari shooting team concluded their campaign at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, with a silver medal in the men’s double trap event.

The trio of Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Saeed Abu Sharib, and Rashid Al Athba delivered a strong performance, scoring a total of 266 targets across four rounds to finish second behind hosts Kazakhstan. India took the bronze medal. Al Rumaihi also stood out individually, placing sixth in the overall double trap rankings.

This silver capped an impressive run for Qatar, who collected seven medals in total during the two-week competition. Among the other highlights were Ray Bassil’s silver in the women’s trap, as well as bronzes in men’s team trap, mixed moving target rifle (20+20), men’s skeet individual, men’s skeet team, and mixed skeet.

Led by delegation head Ahmed Al Kuwari and team manager Nawal Al Sulaiti, Qatar fielded a squad of 32 male and female shooters across pistol, rifle, skeet, and trap events. Their consistent medal haul underlined the nation’s growing strength in continental shooting competitions.(QNA)
