Nasser wins skeet gold

Doha: London Olympics bronze medallist Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah won gold in the skeet event at the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association Cup at the Losail Ranges on Saturday.

Syed Abu Cherib finished second while Rashid Al Athba came third.

“It was tough conditions out there,” said Nasser. “The hot conditions affected the level of competition and it was very challenging.” 

Nasser said Qatari competitors were showing a lot of promise.

“Qatari shooters are demonstrating a high level. I hope the youngsters can win many accolades, both locally and internationally.”

Earlier on Friday, Al Athba claimed gold in the men's double trap event .

Ahmad Al Marri finished second while Masaoud Al Athba settled for third.

In women's skeet event, Sarah Mohamad clinched the gold medal. The QSAA Assistant Secretary General Hussain Saleh Al Sadah honored the winners.
