Qatar advance to second round of Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship after Kazakhstan withdrawal
DOHA: The Qatar men’s national volleyball team has secured a direct spot in the second round of the 2024 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, set to take place in Bahrain from June 17 to 24. The advancement comes following the withdrawal of Kazakhstan from the tournament.
The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) confirmed on Saturday that Kazakhstan, initially placed in Group B alongside Qatar and Australia, will not be participating in the competition. The withdrawal comes just days before the tournament’s scheduled kickoff.
In response, the executive committee, working in coordination with the tournament’s technical team, implemented adjustments to the format to ensure a smooth continuation of the event. With Kazakhstan’s exit, Qatar now move forward automatically, easing their path in the prestigious continental championship.(QNA)
