Al Rayyan beat Police to win Super Cup

Doha, Qatar: Al Rayyan defeated Police in straight sets 25-21, 30-28, 25-22 in the Super Cup encounter at the QVA indoor hall.
Al Rayyan coach Carlos Eduardo Schwank was happy with the win but said he was keen that the team maintains the momentum for the entire duration of the league.
Police coach Damian Arredondo said that his team was still trying to work out combinations and develop good understanding with each other.
The contest promised a lot when the match started with the teams fighting neck and neck in the first set.
Police were served well by Nader Abu Bakr and Osman, both national team players.
Al Rayyan had Milos, Bilal Abenbout and Ahmed Jalal in their ranks.
The understanding between Al Rayyan players was way better than their rivals and that made the difference on the day.
In the first set, Rayyan pulled away after the first ten points and although Police did manage to close the gap, it got difficult for them and Rayyan won the set at 25-21.
In the second set, Al Rayyan looked comfortable with a 14-9 lead and even though Police caught up they never looked like threatening their opponents. But errors by Rayyan at the close of the set allowed Police a foot in the door and they levelled scores at 25-25.
Police had a chance to close out the set with the scores at 28-27 in their favour and the service with them. But an error and subsequent superb play by Al Rayyan saw them lose at 28-30.
It was an uphill task for Police in the final set and try as they could, failed to counter Rayyan’s attacks and lost the set and match at 22-25.
