Al Arabi thrash Vietnam Sports Club at Asian Men’s Club Championship

NINH BINH, Vietnam: Qatar’s Al Arabi started their last-eight round campaign at the SMM 2017 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in emphatic fashion, with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-22 thrashing of Vietnam Sports Club in a Pool E match at Ninh Binh, Vietnam, on Sunday.

Arabi, who finished second in Group C in the preliminary round, will play Group A runners-up Al Bahri Sport Club of Iraq in their second match.

Reigning champions Sarmayeh Bank of Iran also started the last-eight round in style, pulling off a dramatic 25-14, 19-25, 25-18, 25-15 victory against Beijing Baic Motor in Pool F.

Shahram Mahmoudi scored a team-high 17 points from15 spikes and 2 blocks for Sarmayeh Bank, while Milad Ebadipour Gharah and Mohammed Mousavi Eraghi Seyed added 14 points apiece. Yin Jie led Beijing Baic Motor with 15 points.
