Swiatek confident of bouncing back stronger after Australian Open exit

MELBOURNE: Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek’s quest to reach her first Australian Open final came to a heartbreaking end on Thursday, as American Madison Keys staged a stunning comeback to win 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(8). Despite holding a match point at 6-5 in the third set, Swiatek was unable to close out the match, with Keys dominating the tiebreak to advance.

Reflecting on the defeat, the 23-year-old Pole acknowledged the challenges she faced in maintaining her usual level of control. “I base my game on solidity and intensity, on control, and today it was hard for me to control the course of action. She also played very intensely,” Swiatek told Reuters.

Though disappointed, Swiatek remained optimistic about the future. “I’m still young, and I’ll come back stronger next year,” she said. With her resilience and determination, Swiatek’s fans can look forward to seeing her in contention for more titles in the years to come.(Reuters)
