Sinner enters quarterfinals of Madrid Open

MADRID: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner eased past Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-5 to book his place in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open, extending his ATP Masters 1000 winning streak to 25 matches.

Playing in cooler morning conditions at Caja Magica, the players avoided the worst of the heat, though heavy pollen levels continued to swirl around the courts.

Sinner showed little discomfort, dominating early as he wrapped up the opening set in just 35 minutes, leaving Norrie struggling to find rhythm.

The second set proved more competitive. Norrie, seeded 19th, attempted to disrupt Sinner’s flow and briefly drew level at 3-3 after breaking back. However, the Italian maintained relentless pressure and capitalised in the 11th game when Norrie faltered, handing over a crucial break.
