ZHUHAI,China: A second-string United States team extended their Davis Cup winning run by dismantling Germany in Zhuhai on Saturday, topping Group C and securing their spot in the quarter-finals of the premier men’s team competition. Despite missing big names such as U.S. Open runner-up Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, and Frances Tiafoe, the 32-time champions showcased impressive depth, completing a third straight victory.

Brandon Nakashima sealed the Americans’ 2-0 win over Germany by defeating Maximilian Marterer 6-4, 6-2 in the second singles match. Nakashima, who is enjoying a flawless debut Davis Cup campaign, expressed his joy: “It’s been unbelievable this whole week. To represent the country has always been a dream of mine since I started playing tennis.”
