Qatar beat Turkmenistan in Davis Cup

Doha: Qatar eased past Turkmenistan in their second match in the 2017 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Wednesday.

Mubarak Shanan defeated Isa Mammetgulyyev 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 to give Qatar a 1-0 lead. Mousa Shanan was then awarded the match in the second singles after Turkmenistan’s Yuriy Rogusskiy withdrew.

Earlier, Qatar began their campaign with a 2-1 victory over UAE on Monday.

Jabor Al Motawa is the third member of Qatar team captained by Mohammad Khenji. Younes Al Aynoui is the head coach.

Qatar will play Lebanon and Malaysia in their next matches in Pool B.
