Noskova stuns Badosa at Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open

ABU DHABI: Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic secured an impressive 6-4, 6-1 victory over second-seeded Paula Badosa of Spain in the second round of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open on Wednesday. The 19-year-old dominated the match, converting six of nine break points and wrapping up the win in just 67 minutes.
Noskova’s next challenge will be Poland’s Magda Linette, who advanced after sixth-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova retired in the second set of their match.
Top-seeded Elena Rybakina overcame a slow start to defeat Katie Volynets 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. In another upset, Ashlyn Krueger battled back to eliminate third-seeded Daria Kasatkina 1-6, 7-5, 6-4.
Elsewhere, Marketa Vondrousova dispatched fourth seed Yulia Putintseva 6-2, 6-3, while No. 8 seed Leyla Fernandez cruised past Lulu Sun 6-0, 6-3. Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur also advanced with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 victory over Wakana Sonobe.(Reuters)
