Kecmanovic beats rain and Fucsovics to enter Qatar ExxonMobil Open semis
Doha, Qatar: Rain played the spoilsport at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open on Thursday, but Miomir Kecmanovic just found enough time in between to enhance his growing reputation with another masterful show.
Serbian NextGen player Kecmanovic, who sent Jo Wilfried Tsonga packing on Wednesday, looked like in a hurry to finish off before the rains came again as he thrashed Hungarian Márton Fucsovics 6-2, 6-0 in 55 minutes.
The 20-year-old was in total command at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, converting six of his 12 breakpoints and winning a whopping 59 points to his opponents 28.
Kecmanovic will play the winner of the quarterfinal between second seed Andrey Rublev of Russia and Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
The match had just started with both the players taking a game apiece when it started raining. It will now be played on Friday at 12.30 pm on Court 1.
The quarterfinal between Spaniard Fernando Verdasco and Frenchman Corentin Moutet will start at 1 pm on the centre court and it will be followed by the match between top seed Stan Wawrinka and Aljaz Bedene.
The semifinal matches will be played in the evening session. The doubles matches will start at 12.30 pm on courts 2 and 3.
