Hamad Medjedovic stuns top-seed Medvedev to reach Open 13 Provence final

MARSEILLE: Serbian rising star Hamad Medjedovic pulled off a stunning upset by defeating No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals of the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, France.

The 21-year-old, who had never beaten a top-10 opponent before, needed just 72 minutes to secure the victory. Medjedovic fired seven aces and saved three of five break points against the world No. 8.

In the final, Medjedovic will face France’s Ugo Humbert, who also advanced with a straight-set win, defeating Belgium’s Zizou Bergs 6-4, 6-4. Humbert dominated his service games, winning 29 of 35 first-serve points. The stage is set for an exciting championship clash in Marseille.
