Gauff defeats Sabalenka to reach WTA finals showdown with Qinwen

RIYADH: American tennis sensation Coco Gauff defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka 7-6(4), 6-3 in a thrilling semi-final match at the WTA Finals on Friday, setting up a final clash with China’s rising star, Zheng Qinwen. Gauff’s victory marked a significant milestone as she reached her first final in the prestigious end-of-season tournament.

The match between Gauff, ranked world number three, and Sabalenka, had been highly anticipated, with their head-to-head record tied at 4-4.
