Draper’s grass run ends at Queen’s at the hands of Paul

American Tommy Paul halted Jack Draper’s impressive grass-court run on Friday, defeating the British player 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the Queen’s Club semi-finals.

Draper, fresh off a win over Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, battled back from a set down but couldn’t sustain the momentum. A crucial break of serve midway through the deciding set sealed the win for Paul.

“It was a battle,” Paul acknowledged. “Jack’s been playing well, so I’m happy to get through.”

Meanwhile, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti continued his grass-court mastery, defeating British wildcard Billy Harris 6-3, 7-5. Musetti, who reached the Stuttgart semifinals last week, displayed impressive control, minimizing errors while firing winners. He faces Jordan Thompson next, who upset fourth-seeded American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-3.

Thompson, who had been on a losing streak, dominated Fritz, not facing a single break point throughout the match.

The final quarterfinal sees American Sebastian Korda battling Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata for a chance to face Paul in the next round.
