Djokovic withdraws from ATP Finals in Turin due to injury
Two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic announced Tuesday that he will miss the ATP Finals in Turin, citing an “ongoing injury” as the reason for his withdrawal.
“I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won’t be playing next week,” Djokovic shared on social media. “Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!”
The 37-year-old Serb, ranked fifth globally, was sixth in “The Race,” the ATP’s annual standings that determine the Finals’ eight-player field. Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Taylor Fritz have already secured spots for the prestigious tournament in northern Italy from November 10-17.
With Djokovic’s withdrawal, the race tightens for the three remaining berths, now contested among Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, and Andrey Rublev. Ruud and Rublev are currently competing in Metz, France, while De Minaur is in action in Belgrade.
The absence of Djokovic, who has won six year-end titles in his career, marks a major change in the tournament’s landscape as the field prepares for a heated showdown in Turin.
