Djokovic to kick off 2025 season in Brisbane under Murray’s guidance

Novak Djokovic will start his 2025 season at the Brisbane International, the Serbian star announced Wednesday, as he begins his quest for a record-extending 11th Australian Open title. Notably, Djokovic is now coached by former rival Andy Murray, marking a significant collaboration as he chases a 25th Grand Slam crown.

The Brisbane International runs from December 29 to January 5, ahead of the Australian Open, which begins on January 12. Djokovic expressed his excitement about returning to the Queensland tournament.

“I’m excited to be kicking off my Australian swing at the Brisbane International and to compete again at Pat Rafter Arena,” said Djokovic. “I am looking forward to experiencing the incredible support from the Australian fans and making this tournament one to remember.”

Victory in Brisbane would see Djokovic join an exclusive club as just the third man in the Open era to reach 100 career titles, alongside Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103).

The Brisbane event will also feature Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and Matteo Berrettini. Australian Nick Kyrgios makes his long-awaited return after battling injuries for two years.

Reigning Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka headlines the women’s field, joined by Jessica Pegula, Daria Kasatkina, and Victoria Azarenka.
