Djokovic shifts focus to defending Olympic gold in 2028

LONDON: Novak Djokovic has revealed that defending his Olympic title at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles is now his top professional priority, even above Grand Slam glory. Speaking in an interview with Slaven Bilic for Olympics.com, the 24-time Grand Slam champion said, “The only thing that at this moment, professionally speaking, I have in my vision is the Olympics of 2028 in Los Angeles.”
At 41 years old by then, Djokovic would be aiming to become the oldest Olympic singles champion in history. His comments signal a shift in focus for the Serbian legend, who added that while Grand Slams and playing for his national team remain important, “not even the Grand Slams, not as much as the Olympics.”
Djokovic’s triumph over Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris 2024 Olympics completed his long-sought career “Golden Slam” — all four Grand Slam titles, the Davis Cup, ATP Finals, every Masters title, and an Olympic gold medal.
Now, with his legacy already cemented, Djokovic appears more determined than ever to chase Olympic history once more.
