Djokovic sets up Arnaldi rematch with dominant Geneva win

Novak Djokovic cruised into the quarter-finals of the Geneva Open with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Hungarian Márton Fucsovics on Wednesday, as the Serbian star builds momentum ahead of the French Open.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who turns 38 on Thursday, is using the ATP 250 event in Switzerland for valuable match practice after first-round exits in both Monte Carlo and Madrid.
Djokovic, currently ranked sixth in the world, delivered a commanding performance against world number 134 Fucsovics, not facing a single break point across 73 minutes on court.
His next opponent will be Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi, who upset Djokovic in straight sets in Madrid last month. That loss, along with an earlier defeat to Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo in Monte Carlo, marked an uncharacteristically slow start to Djokovic’s clay season.
Wednesday’s match was also Djokovic’s first outing since parting ways with coach and former rival Andy Murray, with whom he had been training briefly in recent weeks.
Top seed Taylor Fritz of the United States also progressed to the last eight in Geneva, edging past France’s Quentin Halys 6-4, 7-6 (7/5). The Geneva Open is Djokovic’s final tune-up before Roland Garros begins on Sunday.
