Djokovic reaches record 19th Roland Garros quarter-final with win over Norrie

Novak Djokovic cruised into a record-breaking 19th Roland Garros quarter-final with a commanding 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Britain’s Cameron Norrie on Monday.

The 38-year-old Serb, bidding for a record 25th Grand Slam title, needed just over two hours to dispatch Norrie and set up a last-eight clash with third seed Alexander Zverev on Wednesday. The pair will meet for the first time since Djokovic retired injured during their Australian Open semi-final in January. Djokovic leads their head-to-head 8–5.

“It’s great, but victory number 101 would be better,” said Djokovic after notching his 100th win at the French Open. “I feel good. I know I can play better. But 12 sets played, 12 sets won, it’s been solid so far. I’m very honoured… But I need to continue now.”

Djokovic dominated early, breaking three times in the opening set. Norrie, ranked 81st, put up more resistance in the second but faded in the third. He has now lost all six meetings with Djokovic.
