Djokovic joins century club with comeback win in Geneva final

Novak Djokovic claimed his 100th ATP title in dramatic fashion on Saturday, rallying to defeat Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 5–7, 7–6 (7/2), 7–6 (7/2) in the Geneva Open final. The Serb, who turns 38 later this year, joins Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer as only the third man in history to reach the milestone.
Playing the low-key Swiss event to find form ahead of Roland Garros, Djokovic needed over three hours to complete the victory, overcoming a set deficit and a third-set break to capture his first title since Olympic gold last summer.
“I had to work for it, that’s for sure. He was probably closer to the victory the entire match than me,” said Djokovic. “I was just trying to hang in there… A few points decide it, an incredible match… and I’m delighted to clinch the 100 here.”
It marks Djokovic’s first title in 2025 and extends his record of winning ATP titles in 20 consecutive seasons. The world No. 1 had lost both previous matches on clay this year but showed renewed sharpness in Geneva.
Hurkacz, ranked 31st, looked poised for victory after winning the opening set and breaking early in the decider, but faltered late with unforced errors and a costly double fault.
Djokovic begins his French Open campaign this week against American Mackenzie McDonald, as he targets a record 25th Grand Slam singles title.
