Alcaraz refreshed and ready for Asia swing after team events
SHANGHAI: World number two Carlos Alcaraz has credited team competitions like the Davis Cup and Laver Cup for revitalizing his energy as he prepares for the Asia swing. Fresh off his victory at the China Open, the Spanish star is now eyeing the Shanghai Masters title.
Alcaraz, who enjoyed a stellar year with wins at the French Open and Wimbledon, as well as a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, faced setbacks during the North American swing, losing early in both Cincinnati and the U.S. Open. However, his recent experiences have reignited his form. After helping Spain secure a spot in the Davis Cup quarter-finals and leading Team Europe to victory in the Laver Cup, Alcaraz defeated his rival Jannik Sinner to claim the China Open title.
Speaking to reporters, Alcaraz said, “I had a really good month of practice after the American swing. The Davis Cup and the Laver Cup helped me a lot to get the energy back, to get motivated again.” With his confidence restored, he now aims to extend his success during the Asia swing.
