Alcaraz crushes Norrie to reach Wimbledon semi-finals

LONDON: Carlos Alcaraz had described facing Cameron Norrie as a potential nightmare, but the defending Wimbledon champion turned it into a masterclass on Tuesday with a dominant 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 win on Centre Court.
The Spaniard briefly looked vulnerable, falling 0-40 in his opening service game. Yet from that moment on, he was untouchable—blazing through the first set in just 28 minutes while much of the crowd was still trickling back after Aryna Sabalenka’s marathon match.
Norrie, Britain’s last singles hope, battled gamely and drew laughter with a mock celebration after a rare hold late in the third set. But there was never a sense that an upset was on the cards. Alcaraz, showcasing his electric blend of power and finesse, extended his winning streak to 23 matches.
The 21-year-old moves into his eighth Grand Slam semi-final, where he will face American Taylor Fritz. With two days off before that showdown, Alcaraz was asked about his plans. A cheeky fan shouted out “Ibiza,” a nod to his recent post-French Open holiday—but judging by his current form, he’s far from done partying on Centre Court.
