Qatar swimmers strike gold again at Arab Aquatics Championships
CASABLANCA: Qatar’s swimmers continued their dominance at the 4th Arab Aquatics Championships for Age Groups in Casablanca, Morocco, adding three more gold medals to their tally.
Ali Sayed produced a stellar performance in the men’s 100m freestyle (general category), powering to victory in 53.77 seconds. Rising talent Adam Morsi followed with a gold in the 200m breaststroke (13–14 age group), clocking 2:29.24 minutes. Mohammed Mahmoud then sealed Qatar’s third triumph of the day, winning the 200m individual medley (general category) in 2:20.24 minutes.
There was also podium joy in the bronze medal category as Aziz Ismail finished third in the 100m butterfly (17–18 age group) with 56.13 seconds, while Hamza Shalan secured another bronze in the 200m breaststroke (17–18 age group), touching in 2:24.80 minutes.
The championships, featuring athletes from 19 Arab nations, run until September 1 and include competitions in swimming, water polo, and open water events.(QNA)
