Dujardin withdraws from Paris Olympics amid investigation

PARIS: Britain’s joint-most decorated female Olympian, Charlotte Dujardin, has withdrawn from the Paris Games, provisionally suspended as equestrian’s governing body investigates her conduct. Dujardin, 39, addressed the issue on Instagram, referencing an old video showing her making an “error of judgement” during a coaching session.

The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) disclosed they received the video on Monday from an undisclosed lawyer. The video, reportedly from four years ago, prompted the investigation due to its depiction of “conduct contrary to the principles of horse welfare.” The FEI did not provide further details on the incident or the complainant.

This suspension marks a significant setback for Dujardin, who has been a prominent figure in equestrian sports, celebrated for her Olympic achievements. The outcome of the FEI’s investigation will determine her future participation in competitive equestrian events.(Reuters)
