Tanak dominates second day in Wales to lead World Rally standings
London, United Kingdom: Ott Tanak's commanding display on the second day of the Wales Rally GB on Friday saw the Estonian surge into the overall lead of the World Rally Championship.
The Toyota driver won five of the day's eight stages, including all of the first three, to move ahead of Belgium's Thierry Neuville at the head of the standings.
Neuville, in a Hyundai, had started the day as the Championship leader and he did manage two wins on Friday, including the concluding stage on the second running of the 16.95-kilometre Penmachno course.
That cut his deficit to Tanak in the overall classification to 28.8 seconds, with Toyota's Jari-Matti Latvala a further 2.5 secs adrift in third.
