Renault to cease Formula One engine production at Viry-Chatillon after 2025 season

PARIS: Renault has announced it will end Formula One engine production at its Viry-Chatillon factory following the 2025 season. The facility, located near Paris and employing over 300 staff, will be transformed into a “Hypertech” centre for engineering, which includes an F1 monitoring unit.

Alpine, Renault’s racing division, confirmed the decision on Monday, stating that all Formula One activities, excluding engine development, would conclude at the site by the end of 2025. The F1 monitoring unit will help maintain technical expertise in the sport while supporting Alpine’s new projects.

Alpine also assured that each employee affected by the transformation will be offered a new position within the Alpine Hypertech team. This move comes as Alpine, currently ninth in the Formula One Constructors’ Championship, prepares for a new era powered by engines from another manufacturer. The team’s chassis factory will remain at Enstone, England.
