Qatar Superstock 600 to resume on March 30
Doha: Saeed Al Sulaiti and Mishal Al Naimi will continue their rivalry as the Qatar Superstock 600 resumes on March 30 and 31, after more than one-month break, at Losail International Circuit.
With only two more rounds to go, Al Sulaiti leads the standings with 130 points, just four ahead of Al Naimi.
“The results of this weekend will be very important for the championship. The fight is close after I crashed in round 2 and I lost a lot of points which has given Mishal the motivation to come back,” said Al Sulaiti.
“I can see that he has been working hard and the results from the official test prove this however I too want to win and will be there to fight. I hope we give all the fans a great show and let the best man win,”’ added Al Sulaiti. “On the other hand, I also wish to everybody a safe and exciting race coming ahead and many thanks to QMMF and Losail Circuit Sports Club for this championship and to Ooredoo for sponsoring me.”
Al Naimi is confident with recent testing and is looking forward to the last rounds of the championship. ‘
“I am ready for this round and I think that I am better than in the previous round. During the last test, I did some changes, I did a good lap time and felt comfortable with the bike. Hope I can do the same during this round and start already in the free practice with good performance,” said Al Naimi.
“I just need a little time to make a good set up for the actual weather as for this round the weather will be warmer than previous rounds. Last track day I felt good with the tyres in hot weather conditions and we’ll see for this weekend races, I hope we can be fast and win both races so I can reduce the gap in the championship. Nasser Al Malki is in third position in the standings with 96 points and Abdullah Al Qubaisi is fourth with 79 points.
Fahad Al Sowaidi and Balint Kovacs are fifth and sixth with 69 and 60 points respectively.
In the QSTK Trophy, Soud Al Thani is leading his category with 130 points and Essa Al Mutawa is second with 120 points. Kuwaiti rider Mohammad Al Zaidan is third with 86 points.
On Friday, QSTK track activity will start at 10.15 am with the Free Practice 1 followed by Free Practice 2 at 1 pm. Superpole 1 & 2 will be at 3.15 pm.
On Saturday, QSTK Race 1 is scheduled at 11.30 am and the Race 2 is at 3.30 pm.
Entry is free for fans at the grandstand and also at the paddock.
