Jordan Rally: Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah eyes record 18th victory

AMMAN: The Jordan Rally officially got underway on Thursday evening at the new HoverUp Park near the Dead Sea, with 27 crews set to battle across 12 gravel special stages in the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea regions over the weekend.

Seventeen teams competing in the third round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship were joined by 10 additional crews participating in the Jordan national series. The newly-opened HoverUp Park hosted the ceremonial start and pre-event press conference for the first time, providing a spectacular backdrop for the event.

Held under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince Feisal Al-Hussein, Chairman of Jordan Motorsport, the rally also sees Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah aiming for a record-extending 18th victory in Jordan alongside Spanish co-driver Candido Carrera. However, the reigning champion also faces pressure in the Drivers’ Championship standings, where he trails cousin Nasser Khalifa Al-Atya by 12 points.
