FIM President Jorge Viegas meets female riders at QMA
Losail, Qatar: Newly-elected FIM President Jorge Viegas visited the Qatar Motorsport Academy (QMA) and met the woman riders enrolled at the special facility inside Losail International Circuit (LIC).
Viegas was accompanied by Khalid Al Remaihi, the Vice President and General Manager of Losail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) and QMMF President Abdulrahman Al Mannai.
The visit was conducted during the opening round of the 2019 MotoGP World Championship.
QMA, launched in November last year, helps young riders improve their riding skills but due to the huge demand of ladies who to learn how to ride a motorbike, the academy is providing riding courses to the ladies.
"Qatar is helping young riders – boys and girls – in all ages to learn the sport from the experts," Al Remaihi said. “Also, we have special classes for female riders wanting to improve their skills set. These lessons are conducted on Tuesday at the QMA. The feedback we received is very positive and we want to encourage more ladies to join us," he added.
Viegas also chatted with female riders enrolled at QMA and praised Qatar's role n developing young riders including girls and the promotion of motorsport in Qatar.
