Bahrain to host Formula One pre-season testing ahead of 2025 season
MANAMA: Bahrain will host three days of Formula One testing at the Sakhir circuit from February 26-28, 2025, before the new season kicks off in Australia in March. The FIA confirmed this schedule on Monday, marking Bahrain’s key role in the F1 pre-season calendar.
Since 2021, the Bahrain Grand Prix has been the season opener, but in 2025 it will shift to the fourth round to avoid a clash with Ramadan. The race is scheduled for April 13, allowing teams extra time for preparation after testing.
The 2025 test sessions will be crucial as it will be the final season before the sport undergoes major changes in 2026, with new engine regulations and other technical overhauls. One of the standout storylines is seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton’s debut for Ferrari after his high-profile switch from Mercedes.
A significant portion of the teams’ equipment will remain in Bahrain after the tests to prepare for the April race, streamlining logistics for the Grand Prix.(Reuters)
