Waiting for action to start at DGC

AUSTRIAN Bernd Wiesberger is a familiar figure in golf circles in the Middle East, having regularly featured in all three of the Desert Swing events in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Dubai since 2012. An avid skier, the 31-year-old is set for the action at the Doha Golf Club again for the 20th Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, which begins on January 26.

What interests you the most in Doha?

After the winter break, it’s the perfect way to start the season. Wind is always a factor in Doha and makes the course even more challenging. I can adapt quickly and that’s the strength of my game.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career?

Parents and all my coaches who have widened my horizon about this game.

What’s most boring as a pro?

Losing a lot of hours of your life waiting at the airports.

How do you unwind?

I use Spotify and just browse through playlists or go on a Ski holiday.

Your favourite sports team?

Austrian basketball club Oberwart Gunners.
