Qatar Tennis Federation extends deal with Total Qatar
Doha: The Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) renewed its partnership with Total Qatar, which will continue to sponsor the Qatar Total Open women's tennis championship for the next three years.
The announcement of the new deal, which will run until 2020, was made at a press conference held on the sidelines of the Qatar Total Open on Saturday, in the presence of QTF President Nasser Al Khelaifi and Laurent Wolffsheim, Managing Director of Total E&P Golfe and Group Representative.
Total has been a sponsor of the Premier 5 WTA event since 2001.
Al- Khelaifi said: "I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his great support for tennis in Qatar. And to Total for its continued support for this tournament, which is one of the biggest women's tournaments not only in Qatar, but in the region. "
"The Qatar Open is in the Premier 5 category and has shown a very high level of quality. It has raised the bar for other tournaments. It is now difficult for other tournaments in the region to reach the same level of success that Qatar Open has achieved," the QTF president added.
Al Khelaifi reiterated that the QTF is proud and happy with the success it has achieved through its partnership with Total Qatar.
“Total’s partnership with QTF is a matter of pride for us as it has been a relation built from its roots. We were there when the first tournament started and will remain until for as long as time allows. It is also our way at Total to support the efforts made by the QTF and the state of Qatar in general in organising world-class sporting events," said Laurent Wolffsheim.
"This tournament is a great achievement not only because of the world-class players present and successful organisation but also because it reminds us that tennis is loved and played by many and brings us all together. I wish to express our gratitude to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, for his continuous confidence in Total, and to Nasser Al Khelaifi and all the members of the Organising Committee of the Qatar Total Open” he added.
