Norman bids farewell to LIV Golf after four years

SYDNEY: Greg Norman, the first CEO of LIV Golf, has officially closed his chapter with the Saudi-backed tour, announcing his departure on Instagram Wednesday.

“After four unforgettable years, I have officially closed out my time with LIV Golf, and reflecting with nothing but gratitude, pride and achievement,” wrote Norman, 70.

Norman, who was instrumental in launching the breakaway league in 2021, played a pivotal role in recruiting top players from the PGA Tour and European circuit, helping establish LIV Golf as a global competitor. He highlighted the league’s impact on the sport, from expanding golf’s global reach to bringing innovation and new investment into the game.

The Australian golfing legend was replaced as CEO and commissioner by Scott O’Neil in January but remained closely associated with LIV Golf until now.

Norman thanked those who supported him throughout the journey and hinted at future projects, writing, “As for what’s next … stay tuned! Exciting times ahead. Onward to the next adventure.”

His departure marks the end of an era for LIV Golf, which continues to reshape professional golf under new leadership.
