LIV Golf announces field for promotions event in Riyadh

DOHA: LIV Golf has revealed the 93-player field for its second-ever Promotions event, set to take place from Thursday to Saturday at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia. The three-day competition serves as a pathway for players aiming to secure their spot in the league for the 2025 season.

Branden Grace of South Africa headlines the field as the most prominent name. A 15-time winner worldwide, including a LIV Golf title, Grace holds the distinction of being the first player to shoot a 62 in a major championship (2017 Open Championship). After being relegated from LIV Golf at the end of 2024, he seeks to requalify through this event.

Joining Grace in the quest for requalification are Finland’s Kalle Samooja and Zimbabwean brothers Kieran and Scott Vincent, who were also relegated at the end of the 2024 season. Hudson Swafford, a wild-card player in 2024, will compete for a full-time spot in the league.

The Promotions event features a distinctive format, with 29 players receiving automatic byes into the second round. Exemptions include relegated players, select amateurs, and the top performers from the Japan Golf Tour, Korean Tour, Sunshine Tour, and PGA Tour of Australasia.
