Detry claims first PGA Tour victory at WM Phoenix Open

ARIZONA: Belgium’s Thomas Detry delivered a commanding performance at the WM Phoenix Open, shooting a remarkable 6-under-par 65 on Sunday to secure his maiden PGA Tour victory at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.
Detry finished with a 24-under 260 total, winning by seven strokes and becoming the first Belgian to claim a PGA Tour title.
“It’s what dreams are made of,” Detry said after his triumph.
The 32-year-old capped his final round in spectacular fashion, playing the last eight holes in 5 under, highlighted by four consecutive birdies. His final putt, dropped from nearly 10 feet, sealed the victory.
One of the tournament’s defining moments came at the iconic par-3 No. 16 Stadium Hole, where Detry stuck his tee shot just a foot from the cup for a birdie, extending his lead to five strokes.
“This is where I want to be, and it’s pretty incredible to play golf the way I’ve been,” said Detry, who showcased poise and precision throughout the weekend.
A former University of Illinois golfer, Detry’s breakthrough win marks a significant milestone in his professional career.
