Australia’s Lee eyes career grand slam after third major triumph

TEXAS: Australia’s Minjee Lee secured her third major title with a dominant performance at the Women’s PGA Championship on Sunday, finishing three strokes clear of Auston Kim and Chanettee Wannasaen. The 29-year-old clinched the $1.8 million tournament, adding to her previous major wins at the Evian Championship (2021) and the U.S. Women’s Open (2022).
Following her victory, Lee revealed her long-term ambition: to complete the career grand slam by winning all five women’s majors and earning a place in the LPGA Hall of Fame.
“I mean, that is my ultimate goal,” Lee said. “I really wanted to be in the Hall of Fame — that’s why I started golf, and that’s why I wanted to be on the LPGA Tour.”
Lee also mentioned her admiration for New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, who has three majors and was inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame last year.
With this win, Lee becomes the fourth Australian golfer to claim three or more majors, joining the ranks of legends Karrie Webb, Peter Thomson, and Jan Stephenson.
