Young Pakistani cricketer dies on field after being hit on head

Lahore: A young cricketer in Pakistan, Zubair Ahmed, died after being hit on the head while batting at a club match played at Mardan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province on Monday.
“Tragic death of Zubair Ahmed is another reminder that safety gear i.e. helmet must be worn at all times. Our sympathies with Zubair’s family,” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) tweeted.
Zubair was representing Fakhar Zaman’s academy, but the incidence is a stark reminder of dangers despite the protective gears.
Three years ago, young Australian cricketer Phil Hughes also suffered a similar, tragic death when a bouncer hit him on the head in what eventually turned out to be a fatal blow during a Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and New South Wales at the Sydney Cricket Ground on November 25, 2014.
Commentator and former Australian player Dean Jones also expressed his condolences.
“Its so sad to hear.. Young Cricketer Zubair died in Mardan after Cricket ball hit on head during cricket match. Condolences to his family,” he tweeted.
