Wood Replaces Anderson in unchanged England lineup for second test against West Indies

LONDON: Fast bowler Mark Wood has been named in place of the recently retired James Anderson in an otherwise unchanged England lineup for the second test against the West Indies at Trent Bridge, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Tuesday.

Wood returns to the squad after Anderson retired from tests following England’s dominant victory in the first match at Lord’s, where the hosts secured a win by an innings and 114 runs within three days. The 34-year-old Wood, who boasts 108 wickets in 34 tests, last represented England during their tour of India earlier this year.

Joining Wood in the pace attack will be Chris Woakes and the rising star Gus Atkinson, who impressed with a 12-wicket haul on his debut. The second test of the three-match series is set to commence on Thursday, with England looking to build on their momentum and seal the series against the West Indies.
