Top stars for Qatar National Day games
A GALAXY of international stars led by former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi will feature in the Twenty20 and 50-over matches to be played between World Stars and Qatar Stars at the Asian Town Stadium in Industrial Area as part of the National Day celebrations.
Afridi will be joined by his compatriots such as Saeed Ajmal, Kamran Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Salman Butt, the Indian trio of Yusuf Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Laxmipathy Balaji and Sri Lankan duo of Farveez Maharoof and Chaminda Vaas.
Other big names include West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor and England seamer Graham Onions.
The T20 match will be held on Friday and the 50-over tie on the Qatar National Day on December 18.
The matches, jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Pro Events, How Automobile Centre and Stepco Group, are likely to attract a large number of Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan expats in Doha.
Ibn Ajayan Projects, which manages the Asian Town Stadium, is a supporting partner.
