Sri Lanka crush India by 110 runs to win ODI series 2-0

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka secured a commanding 2-0 series win against India with a 110-run victory in the third and final ODI in Colombo on Wednesday. The hosts had earlier won the second ODI by 32 runs, while the first match ended in a thrilling tie.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 248 for 7, thanks to Avishka Fernando’s composed 96 and Kusal Mendis’s well-compiled 59. Fernando’s 102-ball innings, featuring nine fours and two sixes, formed the backbone of the Sri Lankan innings. He shared crucial partnerships with Pathum Nissanka (45) and Mendis, adding 89 runs for the first wicket and another 82 for the second wicket respectively. On his debut, Indian all-rounder Riyan Parag took 3 for 54 with his off-breaks, denying Fernando a well-deserved century.

In response, India began their chase promisingly but once again faltered against the Sri Lankan spinners. Dunith Wellalage led the attack with a fine spell, claiming 5 for 27 in 5.1 overs. India’s batting lineup collapsed, and they were bowled out for 138 in 26.1 overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma (35) and Washington Sundar (30) were the only batsmen to offer any resistance.
