Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed spin Pakistan to victory in record-breaking Multan test

MULTAN: Pakistan’s spinners Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed delivered a masterclass to dismantle West Indies for 123, securing a resounding 127-run victory in the first Test in Multan on the third day. The match, marked by extraordinary turn and bounce, became the shortest completed men’s Test in Pakistan, with all 40 wickets falling in just 1,064 balls.

Sunday’s action saw spinners dominate, accounting for 16 wickets. Jomel Warrican’s impressive seven-wicket haul restricted Pakistan to 157 in their second innings, setting a target of 251 for West Indies. However, the visitors failed to form any meaningful partnerships, succumbing to the relentless spin attack.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood acknowledged the challenging batting conditions:
“It’s hard out there. Batting was hard. In the second innings, we folded cheaply. There are improvements to be made. When you win, you can go on a happy ride and be happy. But we can’t do that.”

Pakistan, holding a 93-run first-innings lead, resumed at 109-3 on Sunday. Warrican quickly struck, dismissing Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan in successive overs. Despite the early setbacks, Sajid and Abrar’s combined brilliance ensured Pakistan defended their total with ease.
