Qatar beat Maldives in ACC Western Region T20

Muscat, Oman: Inam-Ul-Haq led from the front as Qatar defeated Maldives by eight wickets in the ACC Western Region Twenty20 Cricket Tournament in Muscat, Oman, on Wednesday.

The victory, their third in a row, helped Qatar move to the top of the table in the five-team tournament. Qatar had earlier beaten Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Batting first, Oman were restricted to 134 for nine thanks to accurate spells from Mohamed Awais Malik and Tamoor Sajjad.

Adam Nasif Umar made 27 off 12 balls for Oman while Hassan Ahmed top-scored with 53 off 45.  

Qatar raced to the target inside 15 overs with captain Inam-Ul-Haq (73 n.o.) guiding the team home through a 121-run second wicket partnership with Kamran Khan. 

Qatar Cricket Association President Yousef Jeham al-Kuwari lauded the team for clinching the third victory: “Congratulations to the whole squad on the third triumph. We are all proud of the way you are playing in Muscat. Keep up your good work and focus on each match.”
