PCB seeks ICC Clarification as India refuses to travel for Champions Trophy 2025

DUBAI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for clarity after India declined to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled for February 19 to March 9. The PCB spokesperson confirmed this communication with Reuters on Tuesday, emphasizing Pakistan’s unwillingness to adopt a “hybrid model” similar to last year’s Asia Cup, where India played its matches in Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan.

India and Pakistan have not engaged in bilateral series since 2008, given ongoing political tensions between the nations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains firm on not sending a team to Pakistan, citing government instructions. In response, the PCB now awaits guidance from Pakistan’s government before determining its next move.

The ICC’s clarification will be crucial in setting the tone for future global events, especially given the frequency of encounters between the two nations in international multi-team tournaments.
