Nepal’s Airee Joins Elite Club with Six Sixes in an Over

DOHA: Nepal’s cricket sensation, Dipendra Singh Airee, etched his name in the annals of cricket history with a breathtaking display of power-hitting in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup match against Qatar. The 24-year-old all-rounder became only the third batsman ever to achieve the remarkable feat of smashing six sixes in an over in a T20 International.

Airee’s scintillating knock came against Qatar’s medium pacer Kamran Khan in the final over, where he unleashed a barrage of boundaries, finishing unbeaten on 64 runs from just 21 deliveries. His explosive innings not only entertained fans but also propelled Nepal to a commanding victory over Qatar by 32 runs.

Joining the illustrious company of India’s Yuvraj Singh and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard, Airee’s accomplishment adds another chapter to the folklore of cricket’s most electrifying moments. Yuvraj’s iconic six-sixes-off-an-over came against England’s Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup, while Pollard unleashed his fury on Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya in 2021.

Airee’s feat isn’t entirely unfamiliar territory for him, as he had previously showcased his power-hitting prowess by hitting six consecutive sixes in an Asian Games match against Mongolia last year, albeit spread across two overs. However, his latest feat in a single over cements his status as one of the most exciting talents in the cricketing world.
