Nawaz’s record century powers Pakistan to nine-wicket win over New Zealand

AUCKLAND: Hasan Nawaz slammed a stunning unbeaten century to lead Pakistan to a dominant nine-wicket victory over New Zealand in the third T20I in Auckland. Chasing 205, Nawaz smashed the fastest T20I century by a Pakistani batter, reaching the milestone in just 44 balls as the visitors romped home in 16 overs.

Pakistan, needing a win to keep their series hopes alive, started aggressively with Mohammad Haris, who blazed a 20-ball 41 in the powerplay. Nawaz then took charge, reaching his half-century before accelerating to an incredible hundred. His knock ensured Pakistan chased down a formidable target with ease.

Earlier, New Zealand posted 204, with Mark Chapman starring with a blistering 94 off 44 balls. Despite Pakistan entering the game as underdogs after losing the first two matches, they delivered a commanding performance under new captain Salman Ali Agha. This win keeps Pakistan in contention for their first T20I series victory against a top-eight ranked nation since 2021.
