Moeen Ali announces retirement from international cricket at 37
England’s World Cup-winning all-rounder Moeen Ali has officially retired from international cricket at the age of 37. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ali confirmed his decision after being omitted from England’s upcoming white-ball series against Australia. Reflecting on his career, Ali stated, “I’ve done my part,” and acknowledged it was time for the next generation to take over.
Ali, who made significant contributions across all formats, played in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs, and 92 T20s for England. Known for his spin-bowling and batting versatility, Ali expressed pride in his 204 Test wickets and five Test centuries.
While stepping away from the international stage, Ali plans to continue playing franchise cricket and has ambitions to pursue a coaching career. “Coaching is something I want to do — I want to be one of the best,” he added. Ali said he hopes to be remembered as a “free spirit” who entertained fans throughout his career.
